When I blow glass, I start with opening the hot glass furnace which represents to me the matrix, the cradle of the hot glass creation.
I gently open the door of the furnace because it's made of fragile materials. It's important to do it softly. With the bit of the blowing pipe that I plunge into the glassy burning substance, I gather a small quantity of glass that is going to give birth to a future shape. As long as the glass is warm and viscous, one must go fast to work it. I give it a vital blow that is going to provoke its dilatation and create a bubble that is going to expand slowly until the most desired growth. In order to give a harmonious shape to the glass, one must caress it with hand flat or tip fingers with the most prudence possible, therefore it doesn't get rushed. Once the piece arrived at its term one must eliminate the tensions that have been accumulated, and then place it within the annealer which is going to go doing slowly until reaching ambiant temperature. Here is the result of what inspired me this extremely feminine and sensual environment that is the glassblowing workshop. There are still inequalities between men and women. The woman body is still associated with marchandise, all the more so as sexual marchandise. Wages inequalities still exist between men and women. Women are mostly judged on their physical appearance. One women dies every three day under her partner's kicks. |
